Songwriters in the Round
“In the Round” comes from a tradition of bringing performers off the stage and into a more intimate space with the audience. At Happy Time, we will feature two (or more) songwriters who will share the stage and trade songs and stories with each other. And you – the audience – get to see it all happen as if it’s in your own living room.
Tickets: For this special showcase, we are offering 25 tickets. The vast majority of ticket sales go to the performers. You are invited to choose your ticket price based on what you are able to contribute, using one of the links below:
About the artists:
CYD SMITH: Cyd Smith started her musical journey in her teens as a classical guitarist, majored in music at Stanford University, and then found her singing voice through the great jazz standards of the 20s/30s/40s. She produced her first album of original songs in the 1990s, collaborating with musicians such as Joe Pass and many Northwest luminaries. With tenderness, wonder, wit, and well-crafted irony, her songs engage and surprise. She has toured and worked with artists as diverse as Laurie Lewis, Mary Flower, Rebecca Kilgore, and Russ Barenberg.
ERICK IRONS: Indie-folk singer songwriter Erick Irons is a sincere act. With songs that are both intimate and approachable, he engages the crowd in a very real way. With a simple passion for simply playing, you can find Erick Irons at both open mic nights and your favorite Seattle venues. Influenced by artists such as Tom Petty, Fleetwood Mac, and Joni Mitchell, Erick Irons is one you’ll be happy to have seen.
AISLEY: Aisley is a singer-songwriter from Sacramento, now based in Seattle. She began writing songs at the age of nine, and at sixteen, she released an album called “Dear Diary” and is now working on her Sophomore album! She attends Cornish College of the Arts and is in her second year. Performing, recording and songwriting are her favorite things to do.
