Experience Arts Sanctuary in a time of darkness and light
Saturday, December 21st is the Winter Solstice, the shortest day and the longest night in the Northern Hemisphere. After Saturday night, the days gradually get longer as we move towards Spring.
This visible shift in our natural environment is a moment to reflect on time, transformation, and new beginnings
Solstice is also commemorated through the Christian Season of Advent. Sometimes called “Blue Christmas” or “Longest Night” this can be a time to acknowledge and reflect on the darkness that surrounds loss, and the hope that comes with light.
After the November bomb cyclone, so many have experienced loss, whether personal, business, or physical damage. And in this context, the longest night can be a time for quiet, calm, and restoration.
We are happy to welcome back Katrina Surdi and Nate Jorgenson and their work to create a mindful, sensory, and healing Arts Sanctuary experience for the community.
Celebrate the Solstice with the Sounds of Crystal Singing Bowls
The atmosphere will help to focus your mind
Meditation is an ancient practice of mindfulness. It is a way to be aware of your thoughts and body, and slowly move from awareness to control. Many religious and spiritual traditions use meditation so practitioners can control their emotions, desires, and fears.
Let the sounds to replace the noise of daily life
As you enter the sanctuary you can find a place that is comfortable for you. Focus on your breath, which is the rhythm to which the song of life is sung. Be one with the air and the sound that fills you and the air and the sound that leaves you.
Be patient with yourself and with those around you
Meditation is not a contest or a goal that needs to be achieved. Thoughts will enter your mind. Don’t worry about this. As your thoughts stray, pay attention to where they go. Over time you will get better focusing your mind.
The Sound Bath is free and open to all, and we hope you’ll join us for this unique, peaceful experience
Saturday, December 21st | 7PM-9PM at 745 Front Street South, Issaquah
Doors will be open from 7-9PM. You are welcome to come at any time and stay as long as you like.
