Position Title: Business Development Manager

Accountable To: Visit Issaquah Board of Directors/Issaquah Hotels

FLSA: Exempt

Primary Objective 

Development and implementation of the total sales effort of Issaquah, including securing new groups, maintaining existing groups, supervising activities of sales within Issaquah, and executing sales and marketing strategies to maximize the profitability of Hotels in Issaquah.

Essential Functions

Solicit business within different market segments via tele-prospecting and outside sales calls

  • Maintenance of accounts with existing contacts to maintain rapport and develop future business; develop and maintain relationships with key clients in order to produce group business
  • Attend networking events; develop and maintain good relationships with officials and representatives of local community groups, companies and trade organizations, attend local and out of town meetings and conventions in order to generate sales for the hotels.
  • Conduct site tours
  • Upkeep of customer database
  • Develop contracts and follow up with customers
  • Direct the activities of Issaquah hotels sales teams, providing leadership to maximize the generation of sales (If applicable).
  • Manage the budget and monitor sales activities/performance to ensure sales meet or exceed established profit plan and to accurately report variances/projections to the Board.
  • Responsible for the co-development of sales plans to support city- wide  plans, strategies and programs.
  • Assist the General Managers and Sales teams to develop and update the city-level business plan.
  • Regularly work files for past and potential groups to generate repeat business for the hotel. 
  • Keep  trace system up-to-date and in order.
  • Generate reports as required to measure business generated.
  • Take responsibility for the development and implementation of sales plans. Monitor plans’ effectiveness and introduce changes in response to the marketplace, including setting targets. 
  • Coordinate activities with city hotels in order to facilitate increased levels of communication and guest satisfaction.
  • Develop promotional programs as needed
  • Report on a regular basis to the Hotels general Managers and the Visit Issaquah board on actual room numbers.
  • Analyze variances and monitor the impact of initiatives and corrective actions.

Education and Experience

  • 4 year college degree preferred
  • Previous sales experience within the hospitality industry

  • Knowledge of computer accounting programs, math skills as well as budgetary analysis capabilities

  • Driver’s License with clean MVR
  • Available to meet clients which may include weekends
  • Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, associates may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the community.
