Urban Forestry Community Convening and Guided Walks
The City of Issaquah invites you to our Urban Forestry Community Convening — an evening of learning, exploration, and connection around the future of Issaquah’s urban forestry programs and how you can play a role.
Date: Tuesday, July 1, 2025
Time: 5:30 – 7:30 p.m.
Location: Confluence Park Picnic Shelter
RSVP Encouraged by June 26
The event will feature four themed walking tours, led by City staff and community leaders, showcasing our efforts in conservation, restoration, and community engagement:
Walking Tour Highlights:
Creek Restoration & Resilience: Dan Hintz, Urban Forest Supervisor, will guide a tour of Issaquah Creek’s restoration history and recovery from the recent bomb cyclone.
Miyawaki Forest Experience: Tayler Nichols, Green Issaquah Volunteer Coordinator, will showcase the City’s newly planted Miyawaki Forest and discuss volunteer-led reforestation efforts.
Wildlife Coexistence in the Park: Alex Anderson, Park Ranger, will explore how we can live alongside wildlife through stewardship and education in our community.
Creeks to Peaks Vision: Jeff Watling, Parks & Community Services Director, will present Issaquah’s land acquisition strategy and the broader vision for the “Creeks to Peaks” park system.
Following the tours, you’ll have the opportunity to engage in a community discussion with Mayor Mary Lou Pauly, focusing on the future of urban forestry, sustainable funding, and how local advocacy can make a difference. Bring your questions, your ideas, and your vision for urban forests in Issaquah.
Please RSVP by June 26 to help us plan for a meaningful event. Feel free to share this invitation with neighbors and friends who may be interested — we welcome strong community participation!
We look forward to seeing you there and building a greener Issaquah together.
