Sustainability Fair
This free event is held each year at Pickering Barn, located at 1730 10th Ave NW in tandem with our Earth Month celebration. You’re invited to join us for a day packed with fun, education, and inspiration!
Now in its fourth year, the Sustainability Fair is a family-friendly event that offers resources for anyone looking to create community connections, reduce their environmental footprint, or try out some new techniques or equipment!
Sustainability Fair Activities
The Sustainability Fair features demos, products, and hands-on activities. Take a spin on an e-bike, peruse a clothing swap, or learn about products that make your home more sustainable. If you work up an appetite, the fair features food trucks, including coffee and beverages. Kids can enjoy demos, a story hour, and other activities. The following are among the activities you can look forward to:
- Pedal towards a brighter future: Join Trek’s Bicycle and Gerk’s Ski and Cycle for e-bike testing and prepare for the next round of e-bike rebates. Families can also demonstrate their bike safety skills by participating in the Issaquah Police Department Bike Rodeo.
- Save materials from the landfill while looking good doing it! Pick through items in the free clothing section hosted by the Interact Club and the Community Clothing Closet. After picking up some new clothes, visit the Furniture Repair Bank booth to find your next household statement piece.
- Explore the new frontier of EVs at the Touch-a-Truck area! Learn about the first EV side-loading waste hauler in Washington State and visit the Recology booth to hear about healthy, clean, waste-reducing products you can buy locally.
- Connect with our Natural World. Meet one of the many environmental nonprofits in Issaquah, take home a free tree, and participate in a local conservation program all in one place! Learn more and reserve your spot here.
- Become a leading climate household. Discuss how to make your household a climate leader and save money while doing it by connecting with equipment installers like All Climate Heating and Air Conditioning and Northwest Electrical and Solar.
Preview the Farmers Market
The Sustainability Fair marks the Farmers Market season kickoff. Vendors will fill the parking lot of Pickering barn, offering local goods and giving you a preview of the spring season.
History of the Sustainability Fair
The City of Issaquah started the Sustainability Fair in 2023 as a standalone event to provide the community with access to vendors that sell sustainable products or provide resources for greener living. The first Sustainability Fair was supported heavily with students from Gibson Ek High School who interned with the City’s Sustainability Office. Learn more about the first City of Issaquah Sustainability Fair!
Pickering Barn – a Sustainable Site
Site of the Sustainability Fair since 2023, Pickering Barn plays a role in climate action with a recent heat pump upgrade and other waste-reducing programming throughout the year. The Solar Energy system project, consisting of solar panels on the west-facing roof, further advances Pickering Barn as a leading sustainable event venue now and into the future.
