The Issaquah Valley Trolley now offers round-trip rides over the entire length of track from the historic Issaquah Depot Museum to Gilman Boulevard.

The route was extended this year, thanks to bridge and track work that allows the #519 car to travel over the East Fork of Issaquah Creek and on to the end of the track at Gilman. The round-trip ride covers 1.2 miles and takes about 20 minutes. The car leaves the Depot every half hour from 11 a.m. through 3 p.m.

The #519 is a vintage electric streetcar originally manufactured by the J.G. Brill Company of Philadelphia, PA in 1925. It was part of the transit system in Lisbon, Portugal, until 1978 and was acquired by IVT in 2002. The trolley trailers an electric generator set that produces the 600v required to drive the dual electric motors that power the trolley. The Trolley seats up to 24 passengers at a time, includes ADA compliant seating, and is operated by trained Motormen and Conductors much in the same manner as trolley cars in the early 20th Century.

Passengers riding the Issaquah Valley Trolley will get a sense of what it might have been like to arrive and depart Issaquah’s Depot when passenger rail service was a primary mode of transportation over a hundred years ago!
