Forest Stewardship: Learn about King County’s Projects on Cougar Mountain

King County Park’s Forest Stewardship Program manages over 29,000 acres of forest land. The Program’s main objectives are to improve ecological conditions and make our forests more resilient to the effects of climate change.

This hike, led by Paul Fischer of King County, will discuss upland forest health, climate resilience, and forest stewardship, while walking through a few representative forest habitats of Cougar Mountain. Paul will also talk about how forests grow and change with the projected impacts of climate change as you look at some forestry projects from 2020 and 2021.

King County will soon be working on a forest stewardship plan for Cougar Mountain and this hike will cover a lot of the key concepts to be used as the plan is drafted.

Easy hike.
